Identify the photographs, letters, heirlooms, and personal items you want to keep. Put them in a clearly marked area away from items being considered for sale.
Gather personal records, financial paperwork, mail, keys, and devices containing private information. Store them securely before opening the home to shoppers.
Discuss family keepsakes and sale plans with the people involved. Make a shared list of what stays, what may be sold, and any decisions that still need attention.
Keep manuals, receipts, matching parts, and any information about an item together. Note known damage or missing pieces so they can be reviewed during preparation.
Ask before refinishing furniture or using strong cleaners on older belongings. Start by making access easy rather than trying to make every item look new.
Let Karen know about moving dates, property access, and any deadlines. Discuss the sale, clean-up, and haul off together so the plan reflects what you need.
You do not have to sort a whole house in one sitting. Work one area at a time, take breaks, and save questions for your consultation.
